BarksBlog Broadcasts Communications Advice, Opinion

Provocative thoughts about public speaking, the media, and business thinking. Those are the features on BarksBlog, the new weblog created by business author and communications thought leader Ed Barks.

BarksBlog is available at www.barksblog.typepad.com.

“BarksBlog is designed to become a meaningful lifelong learning resource for clients of Barks Communications, readers of The Truth About Public Speaking, and anyone else who communicates in public,” said Barks, president of Barks Communications and author of The Truth About Public Speaking: The Three Keys to Great Presentations.

“The measure of success will be the amount of heat and light it sparks regarding the critical communications issues facing organizations and their leaders today,” he added.

BarksBlog is a forum for business, association, and non-profit leaders seeking to communicate with their public. That communication could occur during a speech, a presentation to co-workers, a sales call, a handshake at a networking event, a media interview, or when appearing as a witness before legislative and regulatory bodies. BarksBlog supplies practical communications counsel as well as thought-provoking concepts.

Initial BarksBlog topics include performance enhancing critiques of various presentations, research into the efficacy of media training, and a lament about the lack of thank yous in today’s business culture.

As an added feature, BarksBlog readers are able to comment on Barks’ postings. This allows for a conversation designed to lead to higher learning.

BarksBlog is also RSS enabled. This means readers can subscribe at www.barksblog.com and automatically receive free updates in their favorite news aggregator.

“BarksBlog will be one of the few communications blogs to be updated on a regular basis,” Barks pledged. “The last thing this world needs is yet another blog by a communications ‘expert’ who ran out of ideas after a couple of postings.”

Barks Communications specializes in media, presentation skills, and legislative and regulatory testimony training for business, association, government, and non-profit leaders. In addition, company President Ed Barks offers action-oriented presentations to groups seeking to sharpen their communications skills. The firm also operates Barkscomm.com, the Internet’s Communications Training Resource at www.barkscomm.com.
