Association Executives Ask Barks to Lead Action Team

The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) has appointed Ed Barks the 2008-2009 Chair of its Content and Facilitation Action Team..

In that role, the President of Barks Communications will spearhead efforts to enhance the idea swaps sponsored by ASAE’s Greater Washington Network. The swaps benefit ASAE members by facilitating a sharing of best practices across a wide spectrum of issues while also providing a forum for relationship building.

“I am pleased to play a role in enhancing these professional development programs ASAE sponsors for its members,” Barks said. “Continuing lifelong learning is vital to the careers and causes not only of our association members, but to consultants and corporate members, too. The idea swaps advance that commitment to ongoing education.”

The Content and Facilitation Action Team plays a vital role in determining the topics and the moderators assigned to guide the idea swap discussions. Barks’ appointment formally takes effect in August.

Ed Barks works with corporate and association executives who need a magnetic message and sharp communications skills, and with public affairs and public relations pros who counsel their bosses and clients. The former radio broadcaster is the author of the book, The Truth About Public Speaking: The Three Keys to Great Presentations. As President of Barks Communications since 1997, he has taught more than 3000 business leaders, association executives, government officials, athletes, entertainers, non-profit executives, and public relations staff how to succeed when they deal with the media, deliver presentations, and testify before public officials.
