Barks Upgrades Training Guides;
Feature New Content, Co-Branding for Partners
Barks Communications has fortified the two learning guides it provides to its clients. The beefed up second editions, part of the Barks Learning Network, feature enriched content and an easy to reference format.
Both resources are authored by company President Edward J. Barks. The media guide, provided to clients who take part in Barks' media training workshops, is titled, Face the Press with Confidence: The Media Interview Companion. His public speaking guide, Keep the Audience on Your Side: The Public Speaking Companion, is delivered to presentation skills workshop participants.
"It is important to recognize that learning to communicate effectively is a lifelong endeavor," Barks emphasized. "Both of these guides extend our clients' learning beyond the day of their workshop."
"One major enhancement to both guides is the introduction of what I call Winning the Communications Trifecta," he said of the system he devised with his clients in mind. "It's an easy to digest concept that teaches how to gain maximum use of the three distinct sets of tools that bolster performance when communicating in public.
"These tools - relating to message, video, and audio performance - are crucial whether an individual is delivering a presentation or taking part in a media interview," he added.
The new second edition of Face the Press with Confidence: The Media Interview Companion contains expanded lessons in such areas as how to:
- Prepare for an exchange with a reporter.
- Assume control of interviews.
- Cultivate quotable quotes.
- Preview your message for the reporter with a "sneak peek."
Keep the Audience on Your Side: The Public Speaking Companion highlights revised sections, including how to:
- Decide how much of your story you can tell.
- Deal with questions from audience members.
- Practice for maximum effect.
- Handle hot potatoes.
Barks Communications can co-brand the guides with its public relations and medical education agency partners. "Thanks to our co-branding capability, our partners' clients gain a high quality leave behind product that prominently features the agency's name and logo," Barks explained. "It's a great way to maintain top of mind identification."
