U.S. Chamber of Commerce Appoints Barks to
Institute for Organization Management Faculty

Barks Communications President Ed Barks has been named to the faculty of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious Institute for Organization Management.

He will teach a course on “Effective Government Affairs Programs” at the Northeast Institute to be held at Villanova University in Philadelphia on August 5.

“I’m honored to join the distinguished faculty of the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for Organization Management,” Barks said. “It’s a terrific educational opportunity for association and chamber of commerce executives. I look forward to a robust exchange of knowledge with students and fellow faculty.”

Institute for Organization Management is a professional development program originated by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1921. The curriculum encompasses a wide range of issues that association and chamber of commerce professionals confront.

Barks’ teachings will center on how to shape legislative policy; forge a magnetic message that resonates with policymakers; and shape a lifelong learning plan to sharpen skills over time, a particular emphasis in all of Barks’ work. Students will also draft model Congressional testimony and a sample one-page fact sheet to leave with their elected representatives.

Ed Barks works with executives to help them boost their confidence and communications skills when they deal with reporters and members of Congress and when they speak in public, and with communications advisors who seek status and recognition. The former radio broadcaster is the author of The Truth About Public Speaking: The Three Keys to Great Presentations. As President of Barks Communications since 1997, he has taught more than 3500 business leaders, association executives, government officials, athletes, entertainers, non-profit executives, and public relations staff how to succeed when they deal with the media, deliver presentations, and testify before government officials.
