Buyer's Guide Eases Dilemma of Selecting Media, Speech Coach

A newly issued white paper rides to the rescue of organizations that struggle when attempting to fine tune their message and messengers. "A Buyer's Guide to Communications Trainers" reveals specific steps that help businesses, associations, and non-profit groups choose the media or speech coach who is right for them.

"Finding the right communications trainer proves perplexing for many organizations. This guide removes much of the mystery surrounding that decision," said the paper's author, Barks Communications President Ed Barks.

The 15-page publication is available free of charge on the company's web site at http://www.barkscomm.com/buyersguide.pdf.

"'A Buyer's Guide to Communications Trainers' answers all the critical questions - questions that have a direct impact on an organization's bottom line as well as its public image," he added.

Barks flags two critical questions organizations must ask in order to ensure their prospective coach is a full-time, qualified trainer:

  • Do you focus exclusively on communications training?
  • How much experience do you have as a trainer?
"Communications training is a highly skilled profession, one that demands an expert dedicated to advancing his learning day after day, year after year," he said. "Organizations that hire a generalist for this delicate learning experience lower their odds for success while raising the likelihood of driving their business into the ground."

As a bonus resource, the white paper's appendix lists 20 questions designed to help make the best choice for each individual situation.

Among the practical tips set forth in the white paper: Avoid assembly line approaches, demand open lines of communication both before and after your workshop, check out the trainer's web site before making a decision, and make sure he plans to videotape all interactive exercises.

"A Buyer's Guide to Communications Trainers" is available at no charge from Barks Communications. The white paper may be downloaded at http://www.barkscomm.com/buyersguide.pdf.

Barks Communications specializes in media, presentation skills, and legislative and regulatory testimony training for business, association, government, and non-profit leaders.
