Washington Network Group Names Barks to Communications Roundtable Steering Committee
Barks Communications President Ed Barks has accepted an appointment to the Steering Committee of the Washington Network Group’s (WNG) Communications Roundtable.
“I am delighted to help advance the Washington Network Group’s increased emphasis on communications professionals,” Barks said. “Meaningful professional development and relationship building opportunities are often few and far between for those in our field, particularly when it comes to senior communicators. I look forward to developing opportunities that are both educational and enjoyable for WNG members.”
According to the WNG web site, “The WNG Communications Roundtable supports WNG Members confronted by challenges in communications, public relations, marketing, investor relations, and public affairs. We support our constituents by convening business networking opportunities and content-driven programs that address issues of interest across these fields.”
Another reason Barks cited for taking on the WNG responsibilities is the organization’s “rising profile around town, resulting in greater possibilities to give back to the community as a volunteer.”
WNG members consist of a diverse array of professionals in business, finance, technology, international, and government affairs. WNG helps members advance their business objectives by providing networking and professional development events.
Ed Barks works with corporate and association executives who need a magnetic message and sharp communications skills, and with public affairs and public relations pros who counsel their bosses and clients. The former radio broadcaster is the author of The Truth About Public Speaking: The Three Keys to Great Presentations. As President of Barks Communications since 1997, he has taught more than 3000 business leaders, association executives, government officials, athletes, entertainers, non-profit executives, and public relations staff how to succeed when they deal with the media, deliver presentations, and testify before government officials.
