Communications Expert Accepts National Press Club Author Invitation

Communications expert and author Ed Barks and his recently published book, The Truth About Public Speaking: The Three Keys to Great Presentations, will be featured at the 28th Annual National Press Club Book Fair and Authors' Night on November 17, 2005.

The prestigious event is open to the public and features approximately 70 leading authors. It typically attracts more than 1000 book lovers who stock their personal and office libraries and buy holiday gifts. Barks will autograph copies of The Truth About Public Speaking purchased at the book fair.

The fair takes place in the National Press Club Ballroom beginning at 6 p.m. The club is located at 14 & F Streets, NW, in Washington, D.C.

"Leaders from the political and business worlds view the National Press Club as a nerve center for world-shaping events," Barks said. "The high quality of authors at the book fair stands as proof. I very much look forward to being a part of the National Press Club Authors' Night on November 17.

"It still amazes me as I travel the country on book tour," Barks remarked, "how much readers enjoy the opportunity to talk with the author and purchase an autographed copy of a book that has concrete meaning for their careers and causes. I treasure every single handshake and look forward to welcoming old and new friends to the National Press Club Book Fair and Authors' Night."

Former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell contributed a foreword for Barks' book. Mitchell writes, "I have witnessed on the stage of world events time and again how crucial communications skills are. Whether your stage is global or local, I suggest you build your success on a solid speaking platform. The contents of these pages will help you achieve that success."

Veteran sports executive and author Pat Williams of the National Basketball Association's Orlando Magic also added a foreword. He writes, "This book can make a difference in your career and your life whether you are a business executive, athlete, philanthropic leader, even a politician."

The Truth About Public Speaking unlocks the secrets of Barks' Three Keys to Great Presentations™, the system he developed to pull together all the crucial elements that go into a winning presentation.

The National Press Club Book Fair and Authors' Night is a fundraiser for the club's Eric Friedheim Library. "It is an honor to help raise funds for the Eric Friedheim Library - a terrific journalism resource," said Barks.
